We are changing the name of our annual lunch bag drive event from Brown Bag Brigade to Bonus Bag Brigade thanks to the feedback we received from partnering agencies and community members. The term “brown bag” is problematic due to racist and classist origins. Historically, it was a racist and colorist practice of comparing a person’s skin color to the color of a brown paper lunch bag. Those whose skin was darker than the bag would be denied privileges afforded to white people. FCCMP is committed to building a community based in dignity and belonging. Removing racist terms and encouraging inclusivity and respect are an important piece of ensuring ALL of our neighbors know that they belong and that their needs matter. The new name exemplifies what the event is really all about- providing bonus meals to our community meal site guests. Please see the new flier below, help us spread the word, and help us feed our neighbors! -Rachel, Executive Director ... See MoreSee Less
