Temporary Pause of Operations in Greenfield and Northfield
May 8, 2026
Dear Friends,
The Franklin County Community Meals Program (FCCMP) board of directors has voted to temporarily pause operations (including meal services) at its Greenfield and Northfield sites in order to address a number of significant challenges affecting them. More broadly, FCCMP, which has undergone major leadership challenges over the past year, requires a strategic overhaul in order to rebuild its financial and operational infrastructure. The board plans to work with its partners (the Second Congregational Church in Greenfield, the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Northfield, the Food Bank of Western Mass, the United Way, our banks, among others) to address these challenges. As a plan develops for the reopening of the Greenfield and Northfield meal sites the organization will update the community via our website and through our partners. FCCMP will also provide information regarding alternative food resources to the clients who rely on its meals during this pause. Our mission remains: “To work in partnership with the community to alleviate hunger."
We sincerely appreciate your patience and support as we make improvements to our organization. As we all know, nonprofits in the business of combating food insecurity are stretched incredibly thin. Admitting our need for this pause is a major step toward FCCMP’s long term sustainability, which will ultimately improve outcomes for the people we serve.
Please stay tuned for updates.
In solidarity,
Charlie Spencer (she/her), Interim Executive Director
Keith Waters (he/him), Board President
