The 13th annual North Quabbin Food-a-thon was on May 17 from 6:00am to 6:00pm in downtown Orange and Athol. Local businesses, schools, media outlets and volunteers participate. Sponsors essential to the success of the day include Pete’s Tire Barn, Hannaford, Walmart, Market Basket, Witty’s Funeral Home, Lyman Signs, Pete Lyman Excavating, Friendly Town Pizza, The Pizza Factory, The Deja Brew, Diemand Egg Farm, New Salem General Store, Athol Memorial Hospital, The Highland Press, Athol Daily News, The Recorder and the Montague Reporter.
Donations of food and cash are gathered to benefit FCCMP (our Orange Pantry and meal site), Our Lady Immaculate Food Pantry, St Vincent de Paul’s of St. Mary’s Church, the Salvation Army (Athol Pantry and meals program) and Wendell Good Neighbors Community Meals Program.
FCCMP received nearly 3000 non-perishable food items weighing 2800 pounds.
